I have a new release coming out the day before my birthday – not the usual Dub shenanigans but a field recording/Sound Art thing. There is a company in Berlin who have offered to help with the PR for the project called Dense PR. Dense PR is probably the best PR firm for the sonic avant-garde in Europe. But … they asked for Artist shots.
I appreciate I look like the Honey Monster on the best of days – so approached this challenge with trepidation.
I have to say that Simon Godsave at Simon Godsave Photography (www.simongodsave.co.uk) was absolutely fantastic; the consummate professional. He completely put me at ease and worked with me to achieve the image I hoped to get – this one:
Time flew when I was in Si’s studio – we drank coffee in what seems a great space and bounced ideas off each other. I figured that as these images were to be “Portraits Of The Artist” they should look quite staged almost rigid and artificial. Simon was very accommodating to allow me to use the range of accessories in the shot as I would have like and gave a lot of help composing the image – he was moving stuff up and down the shot, until it was just right. I really like it.
After we had the above shot Simon set to work taking a few images that I can use elsewhere – here they are below. On the whole, I could not fault my morning with Simon – he was a gentleman and a professional, completely putting a wall-flower like me at ease and getting images I am proud of. Simon turned what could have been an uncomfortable experience into a memory to treasure. To see more of his work, head over to www.simongodsave.co.uk.
